At 7:05 PM, the meeting was opened by Lee Kazian with discussion of the purpose of the Devenger

The Budget was presented by Greg Kazian.

  • Expenditures for February 1, 2015 through February 1, 2016 totaled $3,403.29.

  • Income from the STD funds for the year was $3,177.19, which was a deficit of $226.10.

  • Biggest expenditures for the budget year were the streetlights ($1,682.83), Insurance for the Entrance sign (($576.00) and Felicitys Flowers and Design ($848.00) who handled the soil preparation and two plantings at the entrance sign for 2015.

  • The Budget was unanimously accepted as presented.

Carmen Casiano Norris volunteered to handle the plantings at the entrance sign for the coming year, as gardening is her hobby. Her offer was gratefully accepted by the attendees.

There was discussion about the Insurance Policy for the Entrance Sign. It has been increasing an average of $24.80 / year or about 6%. Lee Kazian called the agent in January to see if any reductions or adjustments might be in order. The agent contacted the underwriter and called Lee back, saying that this increase is normal with all insurance policies and there would not be any reduction in the proposed $608 cost for 2016. Gene Ownbey said that he has a contact in the insurance business who would be willing to research cheaper insurance coverage for the entrance sign. Lee Kazian gave him a copy of the 2015 Insurance Policy so that he would have the current coverage information.

There was discussion about the necessity of keeping the USPS PO Box for the Devenger Pointe community. It was decided that it is in the best interest of the community to keep the USPS PO Box for any mailings that would be sent to the Devenger Pointe Community as listed in the Restrictive Covenants

There was discussion about the need for keeping the Devenger Pointe Website, as the Domain Name costs $10 / year. David Snider said that the Website is open for anyone and allows access to our official documents, meeting information and minutes. The Devenger Pointe Facebook site is only open to those who are residents of Devenger Pointe and granted access to the site by either Tommy Auth or David Snider. It was decided that keeping the Website is important to allow those outside the community to have access to our official information and meeting minutes. In addition, the Devenger Pointe Special Tax District Committee is a Greenville County regulated board and subject to select state regulations. It is in our best interest that anyone seeking our community information can verify our compliance.

Each Attendee took a moment and introduced themselves to the group. New neighbors were welcomed to the community.

David Snider explained that until the annual meeting in February 2015, there was a Devenger Pointe Homeowner’s Association. Due to difficulties keeping the officers’ positions filled and a lack of funding for specific Homeowners’ functions, the HOA was unanimously suspended. The two remaining committees in Devenger Pointe are the 5 person Special Tax District Committee and the 3 person Architectural Committee.

David Snider, the Devenger Pointe Special Tax District Committee Chairperson, spoke about the importance of the Special Tax District Committee and how the funds are used to pay for the streetlights throughout the community, to maintain and improve our entrance sign and to keep our streets and right of ways safe. It is a 5 person committee who serve on a rotating basis for 3 years. These committee members are appointed by the Greenville County Council.

There is one position coming up for election on the Special Tax District. Danny McPeters was nominated by those attendees for the committee.

David Snider discussed the purpose and function of the Devenger Pointe Architectural Committee. All residents were encouraged to contact the Architectural Committee for changes or concerns with the outside of their homes. The committee members work together to help ensure that the Restrictive Covenants are followed to help keep the Devenger Pointe Community aesthetically pleasing and a great place to live.

Derek Pedersen’s term on the Architectural Committee is up for election. Derek graciously agreed to take another three year term on this committee.

David Snider said that he and his wife will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 19th, at their home at 210 Atherton Way. The time of the event will be posted closer to the date. Those interested should drop off one dozen plastic Easter Eggs filled with candy for each child participating at the home of the Sniders before March 19th.

The Devenger Pointe annual Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, April 30th. David Snider will be putting up the signs for the Yard Sale. If you have unsold items afterwards that you would like donated to a charitable organization, David will accept these items at his home. Scott Wilcox will be publicizing the Yard Sale Information on Craig’s List. This has proven to be a very successful event for the community.

Everyone was thanked for attending and the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 pm.
